Features
Ceramic wool is typically used as a refractory fibre in temperatures above 1,000 °C. Ceramic wool has a polycrystalline structure, rather than an amorphous structure. Its features include:
- Low thermal conductivity
- Low heat storage
- High thermal shock resistance
- High tensile strength
- High noise reduction
- Good chemical stability
- Good thermal insulation
- Good fire insulation
Application
Ceramic wool is primarily utilised for high-temperature thermal insulation and to create unique composites, and has a wide range of applications. Ceramic wool provides effective insulation in the following commercial and industrial applications, amongst others
- Thermal insulation of electric boilers, gas turbines, and nuclear power plants
- Insulation of heating devices and wall linings of equipment
- Insulation of high-temperature pipelines
- Insulation of high-temperature reaction equipment in the chemical industry
- Fire insulation of high-rise buildings and furnace doors
